The Committee's effort is aimed at providing information about Rotary to prospective new members and a constant "refresher course" to those who have been Rotarians for many years.
The information covered in this important meeting includes:

  • An overview of Rotary, plus the opportunities the club offers the new member, and, what the club will expect of him.
  • The Four Avenues of Service.
  • The Rotary Foundation.
  • The organization and structure of the club and of Rotary International.
  • The need for regular attendance at the weekly meeting.
  • Financial obligations are carefully spelled out.

The Committee can update the existing members of procedures and programs of Rotary, local and international, and of new developments and activities in the club, by making use of the club bulletin or announcements at the regular meetings.

 
 

Family of Rotary

  • Rotary Family is fellow club members, children, parents, spouses of deceased Rotarians, youth exchange students & families, interactors, Rotaractors, RYL Arians, GSETeam members, Ambassadorial scholars.
  • Focus of Family of Rotary is Enjoyment – Fun, Retention, Recruitment and Foundaton Support.
  • We can take care for fellow Rotarians like Family by “remembering Birthdays and Anniversaries” Assisting them when they are sick, lonely or having difficulties, “Sharing their grief during and after death in the family, “Celebrating at births, weddings, graduations and other achievements.
  • We can involve our own family in Rotary, at special social & family events, family club meeting, hosting youth excahange and GSE teams.
  • Invite the spouses of deceased Rotarians at special club events, send them  club news bulletins, call them regularly and celebrate their birhtdatest
  • Younger generation can be invited to join the meetings like Christmas parties, new year celebrations, during installations, District conference.
  • Foundations Alumni can be involved in the family by asking them to join, inviting them to speak at meetings and asking them to participate to club projects, communicate with them regularly!
  • Consider bringing together the mothes, fathers, children, grandparents, cunts, uncles, cousins, and members of your Rotary family into shared activities.
  • Participate in a community service project that will help strengthen families in your community by :
    • Sponsoring a seminar for new parents on child development
    • Organizing a father/daughter or mother/son dinner
    • Promoting a family literacy project which emphasizes parents reading to their children
    • Raising awareness of child abuse prevention programs in your community
    • Volunteering at a shelter for homeless families
    • Assisting the eiderly in nursing homes with simple crafts that they can give as gifts to their families
    • Creating a park or recreational area where parents can spend time with their children
    • Providing materials and support to a daycare facility or orphanage
    • Creating an after-school activities program for older children which will give them a safe place to go while their parents are at work
  • The Family of Rotary Resource Group supports clubs in their efforts to care for Rotarians and members of Rotary’s extended family (spouses, children, and parnts), and to remember the spouses of deceased Rotarians.
  • The RI Board has adopted the statement on Family: to demonstrate commitment to family and community through projects, and events in celebration fo “Family Month” each year. (July 03, Nov. 95).

The RI Board has adopted the following statement on family ;

The Board, recognizing that

  • The family, which is the basic unit of society in the community, is struggling with a host of complex social and economic problems that are attacking its structure;

 

  • In many parts of the world, this breakdown of the traditional structure is, in turn, threatening the fabric of community life;
  • Rotary’s longtime commitment to Community Service makes it imperative for Rotarians to actively address the crisis in the family today;

 

  • Encourages Rotarians, Rotary clubs, and districts worldwide to ;
    • Bring their power to bear through existing programs on the most formidable problems facing families today, including but not limited to domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, gang activities, childcare needs, and underemployment
    • Instill the importance of universal human values in the homes, schools and communities of the world.
    • Continue current projects and undertake new ones that strengthen the family structure and make it a secure anchor for the larger community.
    • Demonstrate their commitment to family and community through projects, activities, and events in celebration of “Family Month” each year
